BYLC launches 8th youth leadership programme
Staff Correspondent
The Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center on Saturday launched its eighth leadership training programme, Building Bridges through Leadership Training, at a hotel in the capital.
A total of 43 students from English, Bangla and Madrassa medium backgrounds were selected out of 835 applications from over 100 institutions for the international award-winning programme.
The US embassy in Dhaka will provide full scholarship to all the students to participate in the programme.
The selected participants will spend a month and half at BYLC training center learning about leadership and the following two months in a local community and translate their classroom learning into action by designing and implementing service projects.
BYLC’s youth leadership programme consists of three components — building bridges, leadership training and active
citizenship, it was informed in the launching ceremony.
Addressing as the chief guest, state minister for women and children affairs Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said leadership was not only about advancing the personal interests but also about working with others and striving to make progress on some of the tough challenges facing a group, community or country.
She hoped the training at BYLC would both inspire and prepare the youths for a lifetime of leadership for the development of society.
Director of the American Center Lauren Lovelace and BYLC founder Ejaj Ahmad also spoke at the ceremony.
