Ganajagaran Mancha to march to resist attack on minoritiesDU Correspondent
Activists of Ganajagaron Mancha, campaigning for death penalty of all war criminals, would launch road march on January 10 and 11 to Jessore’s Malopara in protest at atrocities on the local Hindu minorities over casting votes in the Sunday’s 10th parliamentary elections.
The activists of the platform will start their march to Malopara from Dhaka under the banner ‘Road March to Resist Communal Violence’.
The platform spokesman, Imran H Sarkar, announced the programme on Tuesday at a press conference in front of National Museum of Shahbagh placing their three-point demand.
The demands include introducing separate law to ensure stern action against communal attackers, brining the perpetrators to book immediately under speedy trial and ensuring adequate compensation for the victims.
Imran told reporters that a combined cell to resist communal attack was formed at Shahbagh to collect reliefs for the impoverished and victim families. ‘We will extend our cooperation to the affected people through providing them with reliefs,’ he said.
Resistance committee will be formed with young people, irrespective of races, casts and religions in the areas where minorities are vulnerable to communal attack, Imran said.
‘The interested youths who would likely to involve them with the committee can contact the cell phone number: 01781-628111,’ he said.
