Golam Mowla Roni gets bail

A Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Sunday granted bail to Awami League lawmaker and also editor of an online news portal ‘Different News,’ Golam Mowla Roni in connection with an attempt to murder case.
Golam Mowla Roni surrendered before the court through his legal pleader Mohammad Hossain and sought for bail.
Kabir said in his plea that Roni is a parliament member, also a law abiding citizen and currently busy with ongoing parliament session, so he should be entitled to a bail.
Metropolitan magistrate Md. Rezaul Karim granted his bail on Tk 5,000 bond.
On Saturday night, assistant manager of Independent Television Younus Ali filed a case with Shahbagh police station against Golam Mowla Roni and 25 unnamed people for attempting to murder and voluntarily causing injury to one of his reporter and a camera crew.
Roni along with his associates is reported to have beaten up Independent Television’s journalist and his camera crew when they approached him for an interview for a report on corruption allegations against the lawmaker in his office on Topkhana road Saturday afternoon.
Golam Mowla Roni also filed another attempt to murder case against the owner of the Independent Television Salman F Rahman and two others in Shahbagh police station on Saturday night.
