Kyle Hope and Andre Fletcher scored two centuries to lead West Indies High Performance team to a massive 394-5 on the opening day of their four-day match against SAHARA-BCB National Cricket Academy in Khulna on Sunday.
Opting to bat first, the visitors lost a wicket in the fourth ball of the morning, but never looked back as two centuries and a 97-run innings from Keddy Lesporis took them to a commanding position.
Fletcher was out for 105 runs but Hope stayed unbeaten on 146, continuing his onslaught against a hapless home side who fielded four spinners in Shakir Ahmed, Mahmudul Hasan, Nazmul Apu and Sabbir Rahman but none of them appeared very threatening.
Left-arm spinners Shakir and Nazmul grabbed two wickets each, while paceman Dollar Mahmud picked up the other wicket.
Hope, a 24-year-old right-handed batsman from Barbados, added 138 runs with Fletcher for the third wicket before Lesporis joined him to add another 168 runs in their fourth-wicket stand.
Hope will resume his second day’s batting with skipper Carlos Brathwaite, who was unbeaten on two when the bails were drawn for the first day.
