Communal harmony was reflected at the traditional boat race held on the Chitra River on Saturday, which was organised in memory of Danbir Fazel Ahmed and Hindu community’s Bishakarma puja festival at Peroli village under Kalia upazila in Narail.
Ten boats comprising each of 50 rowers from different places of Gopalganj, Magura, Jessore, Khulna and Narail districts participated in the race. 
Mahbub Rahman and his team from Mokampur village won the race.  Abdul Hamid Morol and his team from Perhajigram village in Terokhada upazila under Khulna and Vim Sarker and his team of Hatiara village in Narail sadar upazila secured second and third positions respectively.
Kalia upazila nirbahi officer Faruk Ahmed was present at the  boat race as chief guest while freedom fighter Alauddin Joarder, Mela Udjapan Committee secretary Mofazel Hossen were present as special guests. Mela Udjapan Committee president Golam Rabbani presided over the function.
Thousands of people including woman and children from different regions enjoyed the race.
Danbir Fazel Ahmed foundation organised the race.
A total of 100 stalls displaying traditional textile and cottage industry products were set up for sale in the fair at Peroli.
