Shahiduzzaman Selim directs detective serialCultural Correspondent
For its innovative presentation mega serial DB, featuring sensational cases unearthed by the detective branch of Bangladesh police, will attract huge viewers, hopes director of the serial Shahiduzzaman Selim.
Claiming the mega serial a new experience in his directorial career, Selim hopes that DB will be different from the other drama serials.
According to Selim DB will be an over one thousand episode detective serial. ‘A complete story will be featured in every five episodes. So the mega serial will not be based on any single theme as featured in the typical daily soap operas. Thrills and suspense will remain till the end,’ the popular actor-director said.
‘It will feature true stories and stories next to the truth. All these stories have been collected from detective branch of Bangladesh Police,’ Selim said.
A writers’ panel headed by Litu Sakhwat will write the scripts while a directors’ panel headed by Shahiduizzaman will visualised the stories.
‘We send the playwrights to DB officials to know about the real detective stories that police department unearthed. Then they add colours into those stories to make it suitable for the viewers,’ Selim said.
‘We have given the best efforts to present the detective stories in attractive manners in terms of directorial compositions and music, he added.
He further informed that real jackets, wireless sets, weapons used by the DB police have been used in the serial.
Besides renowned actors like Mamunur Rashid, Khairul Alam Sabuj, Shampa Reza, DA Tayeb and others, a good number of young talented actors will play diverse roles in the serial.
Initially the channel approved one thousand episode of the serial, but it may change depending on its acceptance from the viewers, added saying, ‘If the viewers like it DB will continue over a thousand episodes. And if I’m not happy, I will withdraw myself from the project.’
Beginning from tomorrow the mega serial will be aired at 9:15pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays of the week on ATN Bangla.
A complete detective story, compiling five episodes of the serial, was screened on Wednesday at the Media Centre of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. Deputy Police Commissioner (headquarter) Habibur Rahaman, ATN Bangla chairman Mahfuzur Rahman, actor-director Shahiduzzaman selim, among others were present at the special screening session.
