COMPLETION OF EID PLAYS

Shajal works from dawn to midnight

Cultural Correspondent

SajalSajal

Like the previous years, Shajal remains as one of the busiest actors of the small screen entertainment during the Eid. These days, the popular actor has been working from the dawn to midnight at different locations to finish several drama serials, tele-films and single-episode plays which will be aired on different TV channels during the Eid festival.
Though it is a pain for a person to maintain long working hour daily, his urge for enacting some diverse roles gives him pleasure. ‘Eid is an opportunity to act in diverse roles as the directors and playwrights come up with different types of interesting stories in a very competitive market. So, we get opportunity to experiment with versatile characters. For instance, during the Eid, I’m playing romantic, comic and negative roles in the productions directed by some accomplished and new directors’ Shajal told New Age.
‘I don’t want to have any tag like “romantic hero” or “comedian” or “villain” with my profession. I always look for diversity and the Eid festivity gives me the chance to fulfill my desire,’ he added.
Shajal will appear as his real life character, a celebrated TV actor, in a play titled My Husband My Hero. ‘It was again a new experience to “act” in the role of what actually I am. It is one of my favourite characters in the Eid-special programmes’ said the popular actor.
In a seven-episode drama serial titled ‘Hillol Kallol,’ scheduled to be aired on Desh TV in the Eid, Shajal plays double roles for the first time. ‘It was a new experience for me to enact double roles and I thoroughly enjoyed to perform in the play, which is set against the backdrop of a village. ,’ said Shajal.
Shajal has played a role of a ‘split’ personality in the play ‘Meghomalar Kabya’ while his character in the play Ami, Trina O Magic is a magician.
Shajal told New Age that some of those plays had been finalised, some were still in competing to get Eid schedule.
Abdul Noor Shajal, who is familiar by his nick name, is a regular face in TV drama serials. While talking about how he manages so many tasks altogether, the humble actor said, ‘I am not a very talented person. Every play is like an examination to me and I read the script several times and memorise the dialogues just like any exam time study. Thus I manage to overcome the challenge by hard work.’
While talking about character selection, Shajal said that at first he goes through the whole story and then he concentrates on the character. ‘If both of those seem good, only then I proceed’, Shajal said.
