Obaidul blames lawmen over 5 corpses being found near railway

Our Correspondent . Gazipur

The communications minister, Obaidul Quader, also in charge of the railways ministry, during his visit to Mirergaon in Gazipur on Saturday blamed railway officials for their negligence in connection with five corpses found by the railway in the district in a month.
The minister, when he was talking with reporters at Joydevpur railway station after the visit to Mirergaon where three corpses were found on Thursday, said that a committee had been formed to investigate the matter.
Additional director general (operations) of Bangladesh Railway Md Shajahan Mia, Dhaka divisional railway manager Sarder Sahdat Ali, additional deputy manager of Gazipur Shanewaz Dilruba Khan and other high officials accompanied the minister.
Terming the frequent recovery of corpses from near the railway ‘mysterious,’ the minister said that the three-member committee would submit its report in 15 days.
The minister also ordered the establishment of a temporary Government Railway Police camp in the place and to heighten in trains and areas near railway.
Local people earlier lodged a complaint with the minister about the potholed condition of a road.
Obaidul also asked the district and police administrations of Gazipur and Tangail to reduce ease traffic congestion and ensure security on highways to make comfortable the journey of home-bound people before Eid-ul-Fitr.
He also ordered that no market place should sit by any road.
The minister ordered the LGED executive engineer of Gazipur over mobile to immediately repair the road that was in a poor shape.
He said that no extortionists on highways would be spared — no matter how powerful they are. ‘Take stern action against extortionists whoever they are,’ he said, referring to the law enforcement agencies.
On his way back to Dhaka, he ordered the police to clear areas by the Dhaka–Mymensingh Highway where there were kitchen markets and makeshift shops.
