Beauty is truth’s smile when she beholds her own face in a perfect mirror: Tagore.

Bangladeshi nightingale Sabina Yasmin, for the first time, is bringing out a solo Tagore music album titled ‘Ami Sandhya Dwiper Shikha’ marking the death anniversary of the Nobel Laureate poet.
‘Previously I presented Tagore songs in a duet album with Tapan Mahmud which was released around 13-14 years back,’ said the melody queen in an interview with New Age.
 ‘It was my long cherished desire to release a solo album featuring Tagore songs. Tagore song has been a great source of inspiration throughout my musical career and this album is a token of my reverence to the great bard,’ said Sabina who achieved immense popularity mainly for her unique presentation of patriotic songs and playbacks.
Under the banner of Impress Audio Vision, the album presents a total of 10 timeless Tagore songs including Amar ei path chawatei anando, Badalo diner prothomo kadamo phul, Ami shandhya dwiper shikha, Tumi khushi thako, Bidai korechho jarey, Na boley jai pachhe sey and others.
The music arrangement is done by Kolkata based music director Rocket Mandal while the overall coordination is done by Jahangir.
‘The tunes and lyrics of Tagore songs are completely different from the genres I’m comfortable with. So, I tried to emphasise on the proper articulation of the emotion of the songs. My husband Kabir Suman has been a great support for me in this case,’ Sabina Yasmin told New Age.  
‘Though the style of the rendition (gayaki) of Rabindra Sangeet is very different, I presented the songs in my own style. Legendary Adhunik singers like Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar and Hemanta
Mukhopadhyay also rendered Tagore songs keeping their original styles. I have also performed the songs as an Adhunik singer,’ she added.
Music videos of six songs from the album will be aired in a programme titled ‘Amar Ei Path Chawatei Anando’ on Channel-i on the third day of the upcoming Eid. Hosted by Rabindra Sangeet diva Rezwana Chowdhury Bonnya, the gifted singer Sabina Yasmin will be also present in the show.
Sabina Yasmin has been active in the Bangladeshi music industry since late 1960s. She is one of those few vocalists who is equally sought after in Bangladesh as well as in Paschimbanga in India. She has recorded more than some 10 thousand songs till now.
