Most of the district representatives of the Democratic Left Alliance at a meeting on Saturday called for strengthening left unity to create an alternative political platform outside the influences of the two big political parties, ruling Awami League and the opposition BNP.
They were participating at the first day long central representatives meeting of DLA at Tajul Auditorium in the capital.
DLA called the meeting to adopt a political line and programmes for itself.
At the opening session Zonayed Saki, the coordinator of the combine and chief coordinator of the Ganasanghati Andolan, who also chaired the session said the combine would continue to speak out against the failures of the government.
It would also work to strengthen left unity outside the influence of the two big political parties.
Economist and member secretary of the National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports Anu Muhammad said the left parties must get united trough the movement against the failures of the government.
The left parties need to work to fulfil the aspirations of the common
people where the big political parties had failed, he said.
Columnist Syed Abul Maksud said that the people were eagerly waiting to see the left parties provide an alternative political platform outside the influence of ruling AL and opposition BNP.
The session was addressed by general secretary of the Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh general secretary Saiful Huq, the general secretary of the Democratic Revolutionary Party Mushrefa Mishu, convener of the Ganatantrik Andolan, Hamidul Haque, general secretary of the Workers Party(Reconstituted), Abdus Satter, general secretary of the Communist League Mosharraf Hossain Nannu and BSD(Mahbub) acting president Yasin Miah.
More than 250 representative of the combine from 51, district took part.
DLA took the decision to hold a central representatives’ meeting within a month.
The DLA has suspended the membership of the SPB for creating another alliance with CPB.
