Sylhet divisional theatre fest ends

A five-day Sylhet divisional theatre festival organised to mark 150th birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Thakur ended at Habiganj Shilpakala Academy Auditorium on Monday.
Social Welfare Minister Enamul Haque Mostafa Shaheed was present as a chief guest at the concluding session of the event.
On the concluding day of the festival, popular drama troupe of the country Manipuri Theatre from Moulvibazar staged Manipuri version of Rabindranath Tagore’s popular dramatic poem ‘Debotar Grash’, directed by Subhashish Sinha. Young talented director Subhashish Sinha has adapted Tagore’s poem as a Manipuri play in Bishnupriya language having the same title and presented it following the tradition of Manipuri theatre.
Earlier, the festival was inaugurated on Thursday by advocate Abu Jahir MP as chief guest. After discussion session, Dhaka Padathik staged drama- Aapod.
On Friday, second day of the festival, Natyalok from Sylhet staged Shasti, Prothik Theatre Habiganj staged Hoimonti on Saturday and Jibon Songket from Habiganj staged Strir Patro on Sunday.
The festival was jointly organised by Ministry of Cultural Affairs, ITI-Bangladesh Centre, Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
