Rosey Siddique performs monodrama in USA

Cultural Correspondent

Popular TV and theatre actor Rosey Siddique claimed that her recent performance in the monodrama Kahey Narigon got huge audience response in Virginia, USA.
Kahey Narigon was invited at the three day annual festival called Bangamela organised by Dhroopad, an organisation of the Bangalee expatriates living in the USA, in which troupes from eight states of the USA performed.
Rosey informed that Kahey Narigon, written and directed respectively by Harun-Ur-Rashid and Shahiduzzaman Selim, narrates stories struggles of four women from different strata of the society including a rural girl, an actress who plays ‘extra role’ in mainstream movies, a Hindu housewife and an aristocratic woman.
Bothe the presentation and Rosey’s performance could attract the audiences in the US, she said. ‘The touchy story can move anybody. I received unimaginable response and applause from the audience. There were other theatre troupes from eight states of USA though our production moved all,’ Rosey claimed.
However, monodrama like Kahey Narigan becomes challenging especially when a single actor has to play four different characters in a row. ‘The performance was a difficult one as I alone had to portray four complex characters,’ Rosey said.
‘But, the audience response was so encouraging that I forgot my pain of hard works to acquire the skill of enacting such four complex women characters,’ she added.
‘Even distinguished guests including the mayor of the city and journalists of Voice of America including Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury, Kafi Khan and Rokeya Chowdhury enjoyed the play and praised me highly. “I will never forget your performance,” Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury greeted me saying in this manner,’ Rosey Siddique said.
‘The performance is the greatest achievement of my twenty two years career in theatre,’ Rosey told New Age.
Rosey Siddiqui further hopes to stage the monodrama for the Dhaka audience. ‘There is a strong possibility of staging Kahey Narigon in Dhaka after the upcoming Eid,’ she said.
Meanwhile, the artiste has started shooting for the Eid special TV plays.
