8 ICS men remanded in police custody

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha . Dhaka

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court Tuesday granted one-day police remand to eight activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir including its college affairs secretary for interrogation in connection with attempt to murder and damaging of vehicles in the capital.
Metropolitan magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur granted the remand after hearing a petition for five days submitted by the prosecution side.
Those placed under remand were, Masudul Islam, College Affairs Secretary of ICS, his associates Redwan Ahmed, Ishaq Bin Nasir, Masud Rana, Abdullah Al Mahmud, Zakaria, Al Amin and Imam Hossain. The court also instructed the police to interrogate another ICS man Nazmul Huda Rakib at the jail gate.
The ICS cadres were arrested from Motijheel Commercial Area on Saturday last while they were damaging vehicles, setting fire to property and attacking the policemen by exploding bombs.
Following the incident, the police lodged a case against some 250 activists of Shibir mentioning names of 18 people.
