Beximco Pharma retain Ascent Soccer title

Beximco Pharma edged past Gemcon Group by 3-2 to lift the Ascent Corporate Soccer Cup title for the fifth time at the STM Hall of Scholastica School in Uttara on Saturday.
Beximco ended their first half with a handy 2-0 lead.
Earlier on the day, Beximco beat Lanka Bangla 2-1 while Gemcon thrashed Unicap 10-0 in their respective semifinal matches to set the crunch final which was cheered by a full house crowd.
Meanwhile, Securex beat Chevron and Bangla Cat defeated Texmart to become the champions of the plate and bowl stage respectively.
Securex defeated STS Group in the first semi-final of the plate stage while Chevron handed Westin a 7-3 defeat in the other semi-final of the phase.
In the bowl semi-finals, Texmart edged Qubee in sudden death after the regulation 20 minutes were locked in 3-3 draw. Bangla Cat outplayed Ascent Group in the other semi-final of the bowl stage.
Zulfiqar of Lanka Bangla Group was adjudged the most valuable player of the tournament while Gemcon’s striker Sohail became the highest goal
scorer.
The best goalkeeper’s award went to the Beximco’s Tinku while Shamim of Gemcon became the man of the final.
Therap BD Services were honoured with the fair play award for their sportsmanship and co-operative attitude in the field.
