Teams formed to monitor markets in Ctg

Our Correspondent . Chittagong

The Chittagong district administration on Sunday formed five monitoring teams to keep the price of consumer products reasonable during the month of Ramadan.
The district administration formed the committees at a meeting in the morning at Circuit House, where representatives from task force committee, market monitoring committee, TCB and local business community also attended.
Deputy commissioner (acting) Ehsan Elahi chaired the meeting.
The speakers at the programme warned that those who would be found not complying with the regular price list and not hanging the list, increasing the price without reasons, selling date-expired food and goods, adulterating products and not maintaining hygienic environment, punitive actions would be taken against them.
They decided that each monitoring cell would be comprised of the representatives from Chittagong City Corporation, Chittagong Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Rapid Action Battalion-7, police, Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution and Market Committee.
A magistrate in the city area would lead each team whereas upazilla nirbahi officers would lead the team at upazilla level in the Chittagong district.
