People favour Padma bridge with own funds

Phone calls outpour PM

United News of Bangladesh . Dhaka

People from all walks of life, including the expatriate Bangladeshis, have urged the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, to go ahead with her plan to construct the Padma bridge with own funds.
Many people over mobile phone and e-mails to the prime minister expressed their willingness to provide money for the construction of the Padma bridge, and some of them requested the prime minister to issue ‘Padma Bridge Bond’ as soon as possible.
The prime minister on Friday, the weekend, responded to many people as they called her over phone and shared their feelings and ideas about various issues, including the Padma bridge project.
Hasina opened her mobile phone numbers and e-mail address for the people so that they could inform her if nobody tries to take undue opportunity using her family members.
After the disclosure of her cell phone numbers and e-mail address in parliament, Hasina has received an overwhelming response from people across the country and talked to them on various issues.
Meanwhile, various business organisations, private banks and insurance companies have already offered to invest in the Padma bridge project.
Special assistant to the prime minister (Media) Mahbubul Haque Shakil said that the prime minister was getting unprecedented response from the people of various professions and classes for building of Padma bridge with own funds.
‘Despite her busy schedules all day long, she received phone calls whenever she got time,’ he said.
Shakil also said Hasina felt much more confident and buoyant after talking to many people over phone, and she thinks that the people of the country have got united again after the liberation war considering the Padma bridge as the national issue.
The PM’s special assistant also said expatriate Bangladeshis over phone showed their interest in the Padma Bridge Bond.
