2 books containing interviews of 15 individuals launched

Guests hold up copies of two books launched marking the fifth founding anniversary of the weekly Saptahik in a programme in the Channel i auditorium in the capital on Friday. — New Age photoThe Bengali-language weekly magazine, ‘Saptahik’, on Friday launched two books to mark its fifth founding anniversary.
The books titled ‘Jaader Saafalye Aalokita Bangladesh-1’ and ‘Jaader Saafalye Aalokita Bangladesh-2’ contain interviews of the country’s 15 ‘successful’ individuals, which were published in the magazine.
‘In the Interviews the 15 individuals, who have made significant achievements in different fields and made their marks in the society, narrated their lives and work. The interviews carried by the weekly were compiled in the books so that the next generation can come to know about the stories of their successes,’ Saptahik editor Golam Mortoza said at a programme at the office of Channel i in the city.
The persons interviewed in the first book are: former Square group chairman, the late Samson H Chowdhury, BRAC founder Fazle Hossain Abed, jurists Kamal Hossain and Rafique-ul Huq, engineer Sheikh Muhammad Shahidullah, PHP group chairman Mizanur Rahman, Incepta Pharmaceuticals managing director Abdul Muktadir and physician Jahangir Kabir.
Interviews on the lives and work of seven personalities were compiled in the second book and they are: Nobel laureate and Grameen Bank founder Muhammad Yunus, the late economist Professor Muzaffer Ahmad, entrepreneur and former caretaker government adviser Syed Manzur Elahi, former Bangladesh Bank governor Lutfor Rahman Sarker, economist and former caretaker government adviser Akbar Ali Khan, economist Debapriya Bhattacharya and Walton Bangladesh managing director SM Ashraful Alam.
The first book is dedicated to writer Rabeya Khatun and the second book to senior journalist ABM Musa.
The books have been edited by Shuvo Kibria and published by Samay Prakashan.
Information minister Abul Kalam Azad, food minister Abdur Razzaque, Workers’ Party president Rashed Khan Menon, also a lawmaker, journalist ABM Musa, columnists Syed Abul Maksud and Asif Nazrul, former election commissioner M Sakhawat Hussein attended the programme.
Rafique-ul Huq, Akbar Ali Khan, Syed Manzur Elahi and Sheikh Muhammad Shahidullah were also present.
