The six-day inter-university theatre festival organised by American International University of Bangladesh’s Drama Club ended on Monday at Sawkat Osman Auditorium of the Central Public Library through staging of Darpane Sharatshashi by the drama club.
Eminent theatre activist Manunur Rashid was present at the closing ceremony as the chief guest while Manzur H Khan, coordinator of the office of student affairs, was present as special guest.
Rashid praised the drama club of the private university for organising such a festival that featured the best plays by the leading playwrights. ‘It’s really appreciable that the university students are coming forward in theatre,’ Manunur Rashid said.
The inter-university theatre festival, which began on July 01, included six theatre productions by three universities and a drama school.  AIUB Drama Club, Swapnik Theatre of Dhaka University,  Jahangirnagar Theatre, and Abdullah Al-Mamun Theatre School participated at the festival.
The concluding day’s play Darpane Sharatshashi, written and directed respectively by Manoz Mitra and Mohammad Rabiul Hossain, portrays the conflict between good and evil through presentation of Tarkaratna and Sitikasta.
New Age was the media partner at the festival.
