Fatiha Zakir Paula is creating a buzz in the music arena, just after her appearance on stage with famous Danish soft –pop band Michael Learns To Rock (MLTR) at their very first concert in Dhaka.
Paula was selected through a contest to perform with the band and she sang their famous number called ‘Salvation’.
Paula shared her experience of singing with MLTR in an interview with New Age.
‘It feels amazing when I think about the moment and it was like my dream came true’, said Paula in a conversation with New Age.
‘Each and every member of the band was friendly and very warm and they made me a comfort zone, because of which I was spontaneous on stage’, added Paula.
Paula practiced with the band just a few hours before the concert.
‘Besides the band, I am also very grateful to the judges Shafin Ahmed and Nasim who encouraged me a lot and boosted my confidence’, stated Paula.
Paula inherited music from her family. Her parents were into music. Her grandfather, Mumtaz Ali, had a great influence on her singing career. Paula learnt classical music from the age of 8.
Talking about her future plans she said, ‘I am working on my first solo album, a pop-rock album, and am currently busy with live shows.’
Paula also describes the concert as a turning point in her life. ‘Sometimes I feel like Spiderman, who became hero from zero’ confessed Paula with a wide smile on her face.
But she also believes that this achievement will compel her to do better work and produce quality music.
Born and brought up in a cultural family, Paula always wanted to pursue music and it was the only destination of her life.  As a woman she also wants to represent womanhood through her music.
