The Bangladesh Football Federation will host a match between the recently crowned Bangladesh Premier League champions Abahani Limited and Rest of the Teams XI on Saturday to observe the 17th anniversary of one of its sponsors Dhaka Bank Limited.
It was revealed at a press conference on Wednesday when the Bank announced to provide Tk 25 lakh to the BFF development fund.
The match, which will kick-off at 5:30pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, is expected to give the Bank authority an idea of football’s recent status in the country as it is planning to be involved in a broader way with the game.
‘Football is the most popular game in the world. Its appeal is divine. We are here to contribute for the development of football and to help BFF to raise its standard in this country,’ said Dhaka Bank chairman Reshadur Rahman in the press conference.
‘This is our first exposure in the football arena. We have plans to be engaged with BFF’s other development programmes as well. We also might engage us in
the district leagues or in the top leagues,’ the chairman added.
Dhaka Bank’s managing director Fazle Rashid, deputy managing director Imranul Haque along with BBF president and vice-president Kazi Salahuddin and Salam Murshedy respectively were present among others in the press meet.
