Section 144 imposed at Kaliganj in Jhenaidah

The local upazila administration in Kaliganj under Jhenaidah imposed Section 144 in and around a local Madrasa ground on Monday to avert trouble after two rival factions of opposition BNP called a meeting at the same venue.
Upazila Nirbahi officer Subrata Kumar said former BNP lawmaker Sahiduzzaman Beltu had called a meeting at  Kumarhati Dakhil Madrasa ground on Monday.
At the same time, another BNP leader, Mahbubar Rahman, had invited a separate meeting at the same venue at the same time.
‘As it might lead to any law and order situation, the local administration imposed Section 144 restricting gathering of people in the area till 9pm. The measure    was taken to ensure peace and tranquility,’ the UNO said.
Officer-in-charge of Kaliganj police station Syed Qamruzzaman said aditional police forces were deployed in the area to maintain the law and order.
