Jim MorrisonJim Morrison

Today is the 41st death anniversary of legendary rock star Jim Morrison, who died at the age of 27. On this day, the piqued lyricist-composer-vocalist, who died of the overdose of drugs, will be remembered worldwide with a great sense of loss yet cherishing the huge contribution he had given to the world music in his very short lifetime.
Local rockers remember Jim Morrison, the lead singer of famous rock band Doors, with respect and shared their thoughts with New Age.
Ayub Bachchu told New Age, ‘Jim Morrison is the name of an idol to every musician, I believe. He was a great influence in the early days of LRB and we were inspired by Jim’s style and music.’
‘We used to cover his songs at the initial level of our career,’ added Bachchu.
Morrison had a wild personality which helped to establish him as a great performer. He was well known for often improvising informal speaking language into verses while the band played live. In his own words he described himself, ‘I see myself as an intelligent, sensitive human, with the soul of a clown which forces me to blow it at the most important moments’.
Another rock star, James, considers Jim Morrison his idol and musical inspiration. James told New Age, ‘Morrison was a legend and he always will be and I am very influenced by his music and lyrics from the beginning of my career.’
Tridib, vocalist of Mechanix, thinks ‘Morrison is timeless for every single musician and his success in a very short span of time had set an example for the world.’
Morrison was and continues to be one of the most popular singer and songwriter in the rock music history. Doors is still considered one of the most famous rock bands. Numerous books were written on Morrison’s life while documentaries and films are still being made.
Morrison died in Paris. His grave, in a cemetery of Paris, has turned into a magnet, attracting Morrison’s fans from all over the world every year on his death anniversary to remember their favourite rockstar. Morrison described death in a poem saying, ‘Death is only going to happen once.  I don’t want to miss it.’
