Michael Madhusudan Dutt’s death anniv observed at Sagardari

The 139th death anniversary of the great poet Michael Madhusudan Dutta was observed at Sagardari under Keshabpur upazila in Jessore on Friday.
Madhusudan Academy chalked out an elaborate programme to mark the day. The programme included discussion, exhibition and cultural functions at Sagardari, the birth place of the poet.
Professor Amirul Alam Khan, chairman, Jessore education board was the chief guest in the discussion. Abu Syeed Muhammad Manzurul Alam, upazila nirbahi officer, Keshabpur, chaired the meeting.
In the discussion meeting, the speakers recalled the great poet on the anniversary of his death.
Michael Madhusudan Dutt was born at Sagardari under Keshabpur upazila in Jessore on January 25, 1824. He is the writer of famous epic- Meghnadbadh (1861).
He is also the writer of a number of plays, volumes on poetry and other literary works. His literary works include Sharmishtha (1859), Ekei Ki Bole Shabhyata (1860), Buro Shaleker Ghare Roan (1860), Padmabati (1860), Tilattama Shambhab (1860), Krishnakumari (1861), Nil Darpan (1861), Hectar Badh (1871), Mayakanan (1874), The Captive Lady (1849) and others.
