Comilla City Corporation announces Tk 221 crore budget

The Comilla City Corparation on Wednesday announced Tk 221 crore budget for 2012-12 fiscal year.
Mayor Monirul Haq Sakku formally placed it at a news briefing held at the Atindra Mohon Roy conference room of Nagor Bhaban.
No new tax was imposed on the city dwellers in the new fiscal, the mayor said adding that giving priority to the development and expansion sector, Tk151.73 crore had been allocated for this sector.
The major heads of income were shown in the budget included revenue - Tk 32 crore 57 lakh 47 thousands and from development sector - Tk 140 crore 44 lakh while the major heads of expenditure included revenue – Tk 19 crore 18 lakh 25 thousand and Tk 151 crore 73 lakh in development and expansion sector.
Tk 23 crore was sanctioned for road development while Tk 6 crore for drain and footpath
construction and canal digging sector and Tk 2 crore for child entertainment.
A total of 27 councilors of 27 wards, nine reserved women councilors, CEO of Comilla City Corporation and panel mayor-1 Ahmed Shoaiv Sohel were present at the briefing. Politicians, lawyers, teachers, leaders of Nagoric Committee, persons of civil society and journalists of print and electronic media were also present, among others, at the programme.
Monirul Haq Sakku was elected as a first mayor of newly formed Comilla City Corporation on January 5 last.
