Research centre on Nazrul, Abbasuddin opened at IUB

The education minister, Nurul Islam Nahid, on Tuesday inaugurated the Kazi Nazrul Islam and Abbasuddin Ahmed Research & Study Centre at Independent University, Bangladesh.
In a ceremony, the minister also inaugurated a photography exhibition arranged by the newly established centre at the Multipurpose Hall of the university.
A total of 125 photographs depicting the lives of the rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and singer Abbasuddin Ahmed are on display.
The centre also honored Professor Rafiqul Islam, Uma Kazi and renowned singer Ferdousi Rahman on the occasion.
The minister appreciated the initiative and congratulated IUB on its various achievements as one of the first generation private universities of the country.
He wished a flourishing future of IUB.
IUB senior research fellow and convener of the centre Mostofa Zaman Abbasi described the reasons that worked behind establishing such a centre at IUB.
IUB board of trustee chairman Towhid Samad and IUB vice-chancellor   M Omar Rahman also spoke on the occasion. IUB Assistant Professor Akimun Rahman gave vote of thanks.
Later students of the university rendered songs of Nazrul and two renowned songs sung by Abbasuddin Ahmed to celebrate the occasion.
