Egypt bourse suspends trading after 6pc rise

Agence France-Presse . Cairo

The Cairo stock exchange suspended trading briefly on Monday after the index rose more than six per cent, a day after Islamist Mohamed Morsi was confirmed president-elect, state television reported.
'Trading has been suspended in the Cairo stock exchange for half an hour after the main index rose over six per cent,’ it reported.
Mohamed Morsi, the country’s first civilian leader, was announced winner of a hotly disputed presidential election after a tumultuous military-led transition following president Hosni Mubarak’s overthrow last year.
The official MENA news agency reported that shares had reached the five per cent increase limit in trading amid renewed optimism in the market.
