The three-day World Music Day celebration programme at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy wrapped up on Saturday through presentation of music of different genres.
Bangladesh Sangeet Sanghatan Sammanay Parisad, with the support of BSA, organised the programme.
The concluding day programme was divided into two segments: the first phase featured discussion and the second one was colourful with musical performances.
Eminent Tagore singer Sadi Mohammmad enchanted the audience by presenting Tagore song Ei kathata dhare rakhis mukti toke petei hobe. MA Mannan with his blazing performance rendered the popular Nazrul song Karar oi louha kapat.
Folk songs Amare asibar katha koia and Amai ato raite kane dak dili were respectively rendered by Biswajit Roy and Sardar Rahmatullah.
Shilpakala Academy’s director general Liaquat Ali presented Bhupen Hazarika’s number Mongol hok ei shotokey and Kabir Suman’s song Agun dekhechhi ami.
Artistes of cultural organisations Uttarayan, Rabirag, Pratiti, Nazrul Lalitkala Kendra, Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts, Jagarani Shilpigoshthhi, Abhyudai, Geetasatra, Nibedan and Marami Shilpigoshthhi presented chorus song recitals. They presented some popular songs like Nilnabaghane, Biswabinarobe, Je tomai chhare chharuk, Shubha karmapathe, Amader khepiye berai je and others.
Dotara Badan Shilpi Parisad and Dhol Badak Association artistes rocked the musical evening with their performances on the traditional instruments dhol and dotara. Besides, Somalian artiste Gibi’s performance added extra colour to the programme.
Information secretary Hedayetullah Al Mamun was present as the chief guest at the discussion session which was held earlier. Presided over by singer Nadira Begum, the discussion session was also participated by Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation general secretary Jhuna Chowdhury and singers Lily Islam and Biswajit Roy.
