3-day World Music Day celebrations begin tomorrow

World Music Day will be celebrated through a three-day programme beginning from Thursday, announced the organisers at a press conference held on Tuesday at the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity in the capital.
Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Sammanay Parisad, in coordination with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, will organise the programme at different venues of the academy.
World Music Day has been celebrated all across the world on June 21 every year since 1982. Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Sammanay Parisad has been celebrating the day since 2008.
In the programme, different cultural organisations, and eminent and upcoming singers of the country will present different genres of music at the programme which will also include a seminar on music, informed the organisers. 
Foreign and local artistes will perform music of different countries across the world. Besides participation of the popular singers, a local band troupe Bohemian and an invited Sri-Lankan troupe will perform at the opening day of the programme at the National Theatre hall of the academy.
Cultural organisations of the country Surer Dhara, Surtirtha, Nazrul Sangeet Shilpy Parisad, Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi, Basoria Shilpy Gosthi, Biswabina, Gito Satadal, Dolan Chapa, Swapnakuree, Padatik Sangeet Sansad among others will perform on different days of the programme.
A seminar titled ‘Bangle Gaaner Sankat O Uttaran’ will be held at the seminar hall of the academy at 10:30am on Friday where music exponent Rajib Humayan will present his paper.
President of Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Sammanay Parisad Amena Begum its general secretary Biswajit Roy, lyricist Mohammad Rafiquzzaman, singers Akramur Islam, Mahadev Ghosh and Rafiqul Alam, among others were present at the conference.
