Bodyguard sequel in pipeline

Culture Desk

Producer Atul Agnihotri is working on a sequel to the Salman Khan-starrer film Bodyguard. The 2011 romantic-action film directed by south film director Siddique was the third remake of the director’s own film of the same name, reports Hindustan Times.
The film was produced by Atul Agnihotri and starred Salman and Kareena Kapoor. It went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of the year, earning over Rs. 230 crore. ‘Work is under progress for the Bodyguard sequel. We are working only on the script at the moment. We are doing a fresh take on Bodyguard,’ Agnihotri told PTI.
Earlier, there were reports that the sequel has been shelved. Asked about the star cast, Agnihotri says, ‘We haven’t zeroed down on the cast yet. Not possible to make a sequel without Salman.’
Director Siddique is not a part of the sequel, Agnihotri said. As to who would be writing and directing it then, he said, ‘We will update as soon as things fall in place.’
