Highest priority to power sector

I fully agree with the views expressed by the writer of an article on the matter, published in a local English-language daily on June 12. Given our miserable situation of power supply, we must give the highest priority and allocation of funds to the power sector, followed by exploration and development of energy sources.
In this connection, I believe it will be of general public interest that all our dailies publish the state of progress of the power generation sector on a monthly basis. It could be on a concise tabulated format of a progress chart, giving the name of project and location, plant capacity and type of plant (coal, gas, liquid fuelled or alternative energy or nuclear).
The state of progress is to be spelled out clearly with the expected commissioning date. It will be
important to have alongside each power plant project, the current bottlenecks and where and why it is happening.
All these details are needed, to highlight the state of progress. It will create realistic awareness and can help to expedite the matter.
Regarding the energy sector, which is related to exploration, a summery of the current status and the work inn progress and expected date of completion may be a reasonable indicator of performance and progress.
The power and energy ministry should be given the responsibility to have this regularly published, say, in the middle of every month.
