New Bangladesh coach Richard Pybus has asked the players to enjoy their game instead of taking any extra pressure of aiming to play the final in the tri-nation Twenty20 tournament in Zimbabwe.
‘I don’t want to put pressure on the players to play the final. They should enjoy the game as this is a friendly tournament and not any ICC internationals,’ Pybus told reporters on the eve of the team’s departure on Tuesday.   .
Bangladesh left Dhaka at 9:30pm for the hastily arranged tournament that also involves South Africa and hosts Zimbabwe.
‘Obviously we want to play fantastic cricket and try to give our best to put a mark, but more than that this will provide us an opportunity to see the depth of our team,’ said Pybus, who will tour with the Tigers for the first time after taking the post of the head coach.
Pybus opined that resting Sakib al Hasan is also a good decision as it will allow the all-rounder to get refreshed for future series’.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board gave Sakib a break at his request as he played uninterrupted cricket for the last two years.
‘Sakib has nothing to prove so resting him is a good decision as it will allow him to have a fresh leg before the hectic schedule ahead of the Twenty20 World Cup,’ said Pybus.
‘We have to start a process of resting the players like England and
South Africa where they give a good amount of importance so that the players are not overburdened,’ he added.
