Immediate arrest of killers demanded

Teachers and students of a non-government primary school on Monday formed a human chain in Sylhet, demanding immediate arrest and trial of the killers of one of their fellows and her grandmother.
Sadia Begum, 6, a Class I student of Prafulya Pathra Non-government Primary School, and her grandmother Amina Begum, 70, were killed in their residence of village Dalaipara under Khadimnagar on the outskirts of the city Saturday noon by unidentified miscreants.
Apart from teachers, students and governing committee members of the school, activists of Adibasi Nari Federation, Women’s Forum of Ethnic Minority Community and Dalaipara Juba Samaj, a youth forum, took part in the human formed in front of the Central Shaheed Minar in the city, extending their support to the demands.
Speakers at a rally during the human chain strongly condemned in the killing of Sadia and her grandmother and demanded immediate arrest of the actual criminals involved in the murder.
They said the law-enforcers should take effective steps to arrest the culprits for ensuring their proper trail.
Prafulya Pathra Non-government Primary School governing body president chaired the rally, which was addressed, among others, by its vice-president Nurul Haque and Ismail Miah, ANF leader Shipra Pathra and Gauranga Pathra, schoolteacher Fayzur Rahman, Babli Begum, Rubel Ahmed and Jeba Rani Nath.
