A hat-trick from Farashganj Sporting Club’s Congolese striker Siyo Zunapio saw them push Rahmatganj MFS to further relegation tension as the latter were handed a 4-0 drubbing in the Bangladesh Premier League on Sunday.
Rahmatganj, bottom team in the league table with nine points from 15 matches, failed to create any resistance as Farashganj dominated the match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Zunapio received a through pass inside the penalty area from A.M Arafat and scored the opener in the 13th minute with a superb chip over the advancing Rahmatganj goalie Sujan Chowdhury.
A fabulous solo effort saw Nigerian Akinyele Peter double the lead six minutes into the second-half. Peter entered the Rahmatganj penalty area through left and dodged past Sujan to place the ball in an open net.
A poor tackle from Rahmatganj defender Mushfiqur Shimul on opponent striker Akbor Hossain Ridon saw
Farashganj being awarded with a penalty kick in the 56th minute from which Zunapio scored his second.
Zunapio completed his first hat-trick on Bangladeshi soil in the 65th minute with a clinical finish from the middle of the box after receiving a square pass from Jewel Rana.
‘I knew that I have a bright career here when I did very well in the Independence Cup last season. From then on I was waiting for this hat-trick and expected it in each and every match.
‘Finally I got it nearly one year after my entrance in this country,’ said Zunapio who came to play in Bangladesh last season.
Farashganj are in a good shape now, winning three of their five return leg matches, as they climbed up to the seventh position in the league with 17 points from 15 matches.
