Mysterious shades of light and darkness, zeal of colours, legacy of black-and-white and innovation in composition can fascinate the viewers through an array of brilliant photographs displayed in an ongoing group exhibition at the Dhaka Art Centre.
The photography contest cum exhibition is organised by photography group Bangladeshi Photographers (BP), titled ‘BP Challenge- Life and Beyond! Season-II’, which began on May 25.
A total of 90 photographs are on display from which 64 are selected from nearly 1500 submissions. Moreover, photographs taken by the jury members and organizers are also on display.
The displayed photographs are categorized in three sections: Colour of Life, Rhythm of Life and Intensity of Life.
The winner of the first category, Farshid Raihan’s photo ‘If it Takes all Night’ portrays a hardware mechanic working in a workshop at night amidst loaded tools and devices. The subject, composition and use of light and shadow make the photograph unique.
Muhammad Moinuddin’s photograph ‘The Descension’, winner of the category rhythm of life, presents a visually alluring moment in which a lady in red attire praying in front of candle lights while a ‘Murti’ in a mysterious blue light is seen on top. It gives an illusion of god who comes down to bless the devotee.
The third category winning photograph ‘Waiting. Though’, by Shahnewaz Karim, presents a chaotic moment of a railway station while a train arrives. A lady waiting at the platform is distinct in photograph in midst of a huge crowd. The beautiful play of light and shadow at the twilight moves the viewers.
The exhibition also offers some more beautiful snaps by young photographers like Moztaba Nadim Omio, Israr Zayan, Sazzid Ahmed and AJ Ghani.
The exhibition is open for public from till May 30 from 3pm to 8pm.
