Our Correspondent . Barisal

Beautification of Bibir Pukur, a historical pond, was launched in the city of Barisal on Sunday.
Barisal mayor Shawkat Hossain Hiron inaugurated beautification works, financed by mobile operator Grameen Phone.
Barisal City Corporation officials hoped that the Tk 1.1 crore construction works would be ended within a year.
GP communications officer Golam Rabbani, manager Firoz Rabbi and city councillors were also present.
Golam Rabbani said the beautification would include construction of walkway, fountain, boards with the pond’s history, sitting bench and umbrella-shade.
