Kazi Nazrul Islam remembered at Shilpakala

International Nazrul Practice Centre and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy jointly organised a programme titled ‘4th National Nazrul Convention and Universal Nazrul’ on Friday at the National Theatre Hall of the academy marking 113rd birth anniversary of the national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam   
Leading Nazrul singers like Fatema Tuz Zohra, Nashid Kamal and others presented popular Nazrul songs at the programme, which featured music, dance and discussion.
Moreover, the organisers honoured Nazrul exponent professor Rafiqul Islam, singer Sohrab Hossain, Nazrul’s friend poet Mohammad Moinuddin (posthumous) and Indian Nazrul singer Deepali Nag at the event.
The child singers of Sursaptak rendered the song Jay hok jay hok in chorus. Rebecca Chowdhury presented the melancholy Nazrul song Amarey debo na bhulite. Singers of Dolanchapa Sangeet Academy presented Sundar Atthi and Tumi ki dakkhina paban. Sujit Mostofa rendered romantic song Tomarey ami chahiyachhi.
Dancers of cultural organisation Hindol performed two group dance recitals sychronised with the songs Jhum jhum jhumra nach nache ke and Ami purab desher puranari.
Information minister Abul Kalam Azad inaugurated the programme in which music exponent Karunamay Goswami, Rafiqul Islam, BSA director general Liaquat Ali Lucky, among others presented speeches earlier.
