SUST BBA students stage demo

Staff Correspondent . Sylhet

Final year business administration students of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology on Sunday staged demonstration at the campus demanding immediate beginning of their masters’ classes and publishing the full-fledged results of BBA.
They locked the main entrance to the business administration department at about 8:00am and staged demonstration in front of the department building still 11:30am to push for the demands, the campus sources said.
The BBA students of 2006-07 session alleged that their graduation course was ended in November last while the classes of the masters’ course were not started so far.
Even the results of all subjects were yet to be published five months after completion of the courses, they said.
‘The authorities did not take step to begin the masters’ classes despite our repeated request in this regard,’ said Mozammel Hasan, a final year student of the department.
The agitated students opened the lock from the department entrance at about 11:30am when the protorial body members went to the spot and assured them of meeting their demands as soon as possible.
The SUST proctor, Himadri Shekhor Roy, said, ‘We are trying to publish the full-fledged results of the BBA students as well as beginning their masters’ classes as soon as possible.’
The business administration department chief, Nazrul Islam, said that beginning of the masters’ classes was delayed because of resetting the syllabus.
‘The new syllabus has been finalised in the last week and the classes of the course will be started within several weeks,’ he added.
