1 killed in city traffic accident

Bus seized for reckless driving

A cyclist was killed in a traffic accident at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital as he travelled to work on Sunday morning.
The deceased, Zahirul Islam, 24, was a driver from Madhabpur of Nababganj, Dhaka district.
Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police subinspector Nazrul Islam said a Safety Paribahan bus hit the cyclist in front of the passport office at about 9:30am. He died on the spot.
To protest against the death, local people vandalised four vehicles belonging to Safety Paribahan and hampered vehicular movement for half an hour, the police said.
The body was sent
to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for
post-mortem examination. No case was filed
with the police until 8:00pm.
At Tejgaon, the police seized a reckless driver when the bus he was driving hit four other vehicles on Bijoy Shoroni road. The incident occurred about 5:00pm.

subinspector Abdul Hai said they seized the
Abdullah Paribahan bus and its helper but the driver managed to flee the scene.
No case was filed until 8:00pm, the police said.
