Pritilata’s birth anniversary observed at CU

The 101 birth anniversary of revolutionary Pritilata Waddedar was observed in the port city Chittagong on Saturday.
Different organisations, both political and cultural, arranged programme to commemorate Pritilata.
Chittagong University authorities also arranged porgrammes for observing her birth anniversary at the Pritilata Hall.
The hall provost, Kamrul Huda, also a syndicate member of CU, said, ‘We will cut a cake, light candle and hold a discussion meeting at the hall in the evening. Besides, we will place floral wreaths at the mural of Pritilata.’
Saturday morning the pogramme began through placing floral wreath at statue of Pritilata Waddedar at Dhalghat under Patiya.
Pritilata Waddedar was born in village Dhalghat under Patiya in Chittagong on May 5, 1911.
She completed her matriculation exam in the first division in 1928 from the Dr Khastagir Government and passed the intermediate exam from the Eden College of Dhaka.
Pritilata completed her graduation in the philosophy from Bethune College of Kolkata and joined as a teacher at the Arponacharon School of port city in 1932.
Earlier 1930 she joined armed resistance movement with Surya Sen. Pritilata
led a team of 10-12 man
that would attacked the
Pahartali European
Club on September 23, 1932.
Pritilata committed suicide by taking potassium cyanide before her arrest.
