Call to enhance police-people ties to curb crimes
Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha . RajshahiSpeakers at a community policing conference in Naogaon have called for strengthening relation between police and community people to free the society from various criminal activities.
They viewed that close coordination between the police and communities could be effective means of curbing crimes.
Manob Kolyan Parishad in joint collaboration with USAID and the Asia Foundation organised the conference-2012 on Naogaon Sadar Police Station premises on Thursday aimed at intensifying the community policing activities.
Additional inspector general of police (CID) Mukhlesur Rahman addressed the conference as the chief guest while deputy inspector general of police of Rajshahi range Siddiqur Rahman and deputy commissioner of Naogaon Nazman Ara Khanum spoke as special guests with superintendent of police Belalur Rahman in the chair.
MKP programme manager Mousumi Rahman narrated the community policing activities in the district in her keynote presentation.
Additional IG Mukhlesur Rahman viewed that the police play an active role against drug peddlers, and also exclude controversial persons from community-police coordination committees and take extra care to control petty crimes.
He also underlined the need for eliminating links between police personnel and criminals and providing equal services to all to curb crimes in the city.
Highlighting various aspects of community policing forum DIG Siddiqur Rahman asked the officials concerned to form such type of forum to improve law and order situation.
Siddiqur Rahman said the community policing should be more effective to address the crucial problem.
