DU Correspondent

A general diary, filed on Monday with Shabagh police station, against a teacher of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology alleged that he was a threat to security of prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Shabagh police station officer-in-charge Serajul Islam told reporters that Jananetri Parishad president AB Siddique filed the diary alleging that BUET mechanical engineering department lecturer Hafizur Rahman Rana posted libelous remarks on the facebook against Hasina.
The number of GD is 1403, he said.
The police officer said that AB Siddique enclosed the remarks posted on the facebook and a report on it published by Bangla daily ‘Bhorer Alo’ on Aapril 19 with his allegation.
The facebook remarks state ‘Tui Hayena, Tui BUET ke khabi? Parbi na. Prothome desh ke, akhon BUET ke……..Matha kete BUET gate a Jhulia rakhbo jate ar kono hayne akraman na kore.’
Asked for his comments, BUET vice-chancellor SM Nazrul Islam said that he only heard about it and would look into the matter soon.
Meanwhile, BUET teachers are continuing their strike demanding resignation of the vice chancellor and abolishing the post of Pro VC, which was created in 2009.
They began strike 15 days back in protest against allegations of irregularities in the BUET administration in which the VC and Pro VC are reportedly involved.
Meanwhile, the teachers of Jahangirnagar University did not hold their sit-in demonstrations at administrative buildings on the campus due to hartal.
They decided to go for all-out dawn to dusk strike from April 23 to 31 to press their demand for the resignation of the VC, Sharif Enamul Kabir, due to his alleged involvement in irregularities.
