52 candidates vie for 21 BFF posts
Staff CorrespondentA total of 52 candidates will vie for the 21 posts in the Bangladesh Football Federation election scheduled to be held on April 30.
The election commission published the final list of the candidates on Monday with former vice-president Abdur Rahim throwing a challenge to incumbent Kazi Salahuddin for the most important president post.
The most intense battle, however, will be for the lone senior vice-president post for which five candidates will be competing. Current senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedi will have to overcome the challenge from Nurul Alam Chowdhury, Golam Robbani Helal, Ashrafuddin Ahmed Chunnu and Mostakur Rahman if he wants to retain his position.
Nine candidates – Badal Roy, Shawkat Ali Khan Jahangir, Manjur Hossain Malu, Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Rumman bin Wali Sabbir, Khurshid Babul, Arif Khan Joy, Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi and Tabith M Awal – will be running for the four vice-president posts.
As many as 36 candidates are vying for 15 executive member posts from three different panels. A total of 122 councillors will cast their votes in the election, only the second time in the history of the BFF.
