Victoria want BCB to ensure Sakib, Tamim for rematch, if any

Staff Correspondent

Victoria Sporting Club on Thursday said they can play a rematch against Abahani to help end the ongoing stalemate provided the Bangladesh Cricket Board ensures the participation of Sakib al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal.
The idea of a rematch was discussed during a press conference of Abahani, who demanded full points against Victoria for fielding an illegal player against them in Pakistani Mohammad Yusuf on March 28.
Victoria had been awarded the points as Abahani, 177 all out, did not take the field to defend their score.
‘First of all we don’t want to entertain any idea of a rematch as we have already been given the points,’ said Victoria’s governing council chairman Lutfur Rahman Badal.
‘But still we can play the game from where it ended provided the BCB ensures us the participation of all players of the same match. We
had both Sakib and Tamim playing in the game, so the BCB has to ensure their participation,’ he said.
Badal brushed aside the allegation of CCDM of favouring his club saying that they rather helped Abahani.
‘The league was to start from December 30, but the BCB deferred it for a day to help Abahani fly in their foreign cricketers,’ he said.
