Mixed albums dominate Pahela Baishakh celebrations

Nazia Nusrat Adnin

The Bangla New Year will start with a good number of solo and mixed albums many musicians tend to release albums on Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla year. But the beginning of the year will not be a promising one for band music lovers. No band, except Lalon, will release an album, against the backdrop of the ongoing dispute between and music producers’ association, with regards to royalty sharing.
Lalon will release its third album ‘Pagol’ featuring eight experimental folk based fusions – five of which are Lalon songs, two songs composed by Shah Abdul Karim and a collected song. Sound Machine has produced the album. Popular singer Krishnokoli will release her third solo album ‘Bonophul’ targeting the Pahela Baishakh celebration. Speaking about the album Krishnokoli said, ‘There will be nine tracks in the album and I am hoping to bring it out in the market within the second week of April through Bengal music.’
Another popular singer Balam will release his fourth solo album featuring 10 songs, as part of the Pahela Baishakh festivity. Sangeeta has produced the album.
However, the most discussed album of Pahela Baishakh is ‘Rong’ by Habib featuring Nancy, which has already created hype in the market. The album contains nine tracks including a duet by Habib and Nancy.
Deadline music will bring out a mixed album featuring the songs from the movie ‘Payra’. Prominent and promising singers like Kumar Biswajit, Kona, Putul, Sabbir, Kishor and others lend their voices in the album.
G-series will bring out several albums including an instrumental one. Soundtracks of the movie ‘Chhaya Chhobi’ will be released from G-series. A collection of patriotic songs by Shamima Parvin Shimu will be feature in the album ‘Shanti kapot uriye dao’.
A mixed album ‘Bhiru –E-Moner- Koli’ featuring famous Nazrul singers like Khairul Anam Shakil, Chhonda Chakraborty, Priyanka Gope, Sharmon Sathi and others will be a treat for Nazrul sangeet lovers.
‘Esho He boishakh’, Devasis’ solo instrumental album, featuring Tagore’s classics on harmonica will definitely delight classical music aficionados. ‘Bhalobasha Atopor’, a mixed album featuring Shubho, Nirjhar, Shayer, Rinty , Radit , Prottoy and others will fit the genre of pop.
G-series also will bring out a few solo albums by emerging artists.
Moreover, although yet unconfirmed, popular band Shironamhin is expected to release its long awaited fifth album on Pahela Baishakh.
