Ray of light at end of tunnel

Staff Correspondent

The attempt to end the ongoing stalemate in the Dhaka Premier League saw some lights finally as one of the bickering parties are believed to have backed out from their rigid position.
Abahani, who along with Mohammedan, have threatened to boycott the league, said they would consider the option of returning to the field   in the greater interest of the game.
The club have called a press conference at their tent today to clarify their position and officials said an announcement of returning to the field can come here.
Mohammedan, however, still remained firm in their position and sought at least an apology from the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis for the way it handled Mohammad Yusuf issue.
CCDM accordingly had prepared an apology letter regretting that they could not properly investigate their allegation because of time limitation.
However, the letter could not be issued as some important members of the body including its acting chairman Hanif Bhuiyan refused to sign it, sources said.
It may be mentioned that the league remained suspended since March 28 as Mohammedan alleged that Victoria Sporting Club have faked the transfer clearance of Yusuf.
Abahani refused to take the field half-way through their match against Victoria on the same allegation, creating a deadlock in the country’s most prestigious one-day competition.
Victoria had been awarded two points against Abahani, though the Bangladesh Cricket Board failed to make it clear till date whether they had really faked Yusuf’s transfer clearance.
