Dhaka Art Summit begins tomorrow

Renowned artists and art exponents from across the world will attend at the Dhaka Art Summit beginning tomorrow simultaneously at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and National Museum, announced the organisers at the press conference held at Seminar room of Theatre building of the academy on Tuesday.
The four-day summit, organised by Samdani Art Foundation in cooperation with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Bangladesh National Museum, will feature 249 artworks by prominent and promising artists, the claimed.
Nineteen art gallaries along with art critics, collectors, dealers, exponents and from across the world are expected to take part at the Summit. Besides, the Summit will also include talk session among artists, seminars, curatorial shows, and Samdani Artist development Award giving ceremony.
Popular international art organisations such as Tete Modern Museum, Auction houses Christies and Southbridge are expected to participate at the Summit, organisers claimed.  Besides, representatives from London’s Art Gallery Lisson, Rossi and Rossi, Indian Gallery Experimental, Ganges Art Gallery, Delhi Art Gallery and Canada’s Forth Eye Art Gallery will attend the Summit, they said.
Internationally acclaimed artists Shahabuddin Ahmed, also the trustee chairman of Samdani Art Foundation, director general of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky, director general of National Museum Prakash Chandra Das, among others were present at the press conference.
There will thirteen curatorial shows and exhibitions including Samdani Art award Exhibition and Bangladeshi Masters Exhibition at the Summit where prominent art organisations and artists of the Bangladesh will participate.
Moreover, Dhaka Art Summit will include a competition for the artists aged between 20 and 35. Winners of the competition will be awarded with the Samdani Artist Development Award worth of taka 10 and Samdani Young Art Talent Award worth of taka 5 lakh.
The Summit will also include the ‘speakers forum’ where art exponents will share experiences.  City Bank American Express is the title sponsor of the summit.
