Teenager Masud Rana came off the bench two minutes from the time to grab a late equaliser helping defending champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club secure a 2-2 draw against Brothers Union in the Bangladesh Premier League on Monday.
Jamal had to came from behind twice against a ten-man Brothers Union, who put in a spirited performance at the rain-soaked Bangabandhu National Stadium only to return with just one point.
The draw meant Jamal maintained their third place with 11 points from 10 matches, though Brothers
remained hot on their heels with 10 points from nine matches.
Senegalese forward Habib Diouf put Brothers ahead in the 35th minute with a placing shot at the far post after midfielder Jamal Hossain fed
him with a neat through pass.
Nigerian forward Kester Akon restored parity five minutes into the second half, a goal which made him joint top-scorer in the league alongside Muktijoddha Sangsad KC’s Sunday Chizoba with six goals.
Kingsley Chigozie gave Brothers the lead again in 63rd minute converting a penalty at the second attempt after he was brought down by Aminul in the box.
Kingsley saw his initial shot parried by the goalkeeper but the forward made no mistake to head the rebounder home.
Brothers were reduced to 10 men in the 70th minute when Jamal Hossain picked up his second yellow card for a foul on Brazilian Everton.
Despite having a man short, Brothers never gave up their attacking attitude and nearly struck their third in the 82nd minute but Aminul again saved the Kingsley effort for a corner.
With Brothers preparing to celebrate their big triumph and with one added minute left, Masud Rana, coming onto the pitch just three minutes before,
silenced them with a placing shot that gave Sheikh Jamal a valuable point.

RESULT

Brothers Union 2 (H Diouf 35, Kingsley 63) v Sk Jamal 2 (Kester 50, M Rana 90+)
