Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha will draw a lottery for the allotment of about 1,200 plots of the Jhilmil project on April 11, about six months after it had received applications, officials said on Thursday.
The city development authorities have issued a notice asking the applicants to witness the draw.
‘Lottery for the allotment of plots in different categories including families of freedom fighters, government officials, officials of autonomous bodies, industrialists and businessmen, non-government service holders, non-government school teachers, singer-artists-litterateurs-sports personalities, remittance earners, lawyers, agriculturists, engineers, physicians, retired officers and employees and other professionals will be held on April 11,’ the notice says.
The lottery will be drawn at 10.30am in the Osmani Memorial Hall auditorium in the capital.
‘Bank receipts given against the application will be considered entry cards,’ the notice adds.
A team of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology will conduct draw.
Rajuk received applications between June 1 and October 10, 2011 for the Jhilmil project with extension to the deadline for application submission for more than one time.
A total of 42,000 people submitted applications for the plots of three categories— two kathas and a half, three kathas and five kathas.
Each applicant deposited money ranging between Tk 1 lakh and Tk 2.5 lakh against the application.
Rajuk has set the rate of of a katha of land at Tk 5 lakh for a five-katha plot, Tk 4 lakh for a three-katha plot and Tk 3 lakh for a two-and-a-half katha plot.
The Jhilmil housing project is located in Keraniganj across the River Buriganga on 381.11 acres of land.
There will be about 1,800 residential plots and 9,500 apartments for lower and middle-income groups with all necessary infrastructure and urban services.
Earlier in 2001 and 2002, Rajuk allotted 525 plots under the project.
