Mushfiq steers Jamal with fourth ton

League leaders Old DOHS are breathing easy despite losing to Mohammedan Sporting Club by five wickets as their nearest rivals Victoria also suffered a defeat in their match.
National vice-captain Mahmudullah (78) maintained his scoring form for his side Abahani Limited despite the defending champions losing to Gazi Tank Cricketers by a narrow five runs at Mirpur.
Sheikh Jamal v Victoria
Opting to bat first at Fatullah, Jamal were in some trouble having been reduced to 34-3, but skipper Mushfiq and Mahmudul Hasan rescued the side in style as the duo put on 216 runs together to lift their side to 287-6.
Mushfiq clobbered 11 fours and two sixes in his 118-ball knock while Mahmudul scored 74 from 68 balls with 11 fours.
Kamran Sajid top-scored with 50 while Saikat Ali (39), Soumya Sarker (37), Jahirul Islam (44) and Sakib al Hasan (33) all failed to capitalise on their good start as their innings stopped at 278 runs with an over to spare.
Left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny and Shamsur Rahman claimed three wickets each.
Old DOHS v Mohammedan
Half-centuries from Ziaur Rahman (51), Saeed Anwar Jr (52) and Adnan Raza (51) helped the title-aspirants DOHS post a challenging 254-7 after they elected to bat first at BKSP.
DOHS were in a good position with 118-2 on the board, but Nur Hossain, Naeem Islam and Mohammad Wahid grabbed two wickets each to prevent them from making a bigger total.
Contributions from all the top-order batsmen saw Mohammedan reach 257-5 in 48.5 overs.
Coming in at number three and four, Babar Azam and Naeem scored 72 and 63 runs respectively as they were well supported by Imrul Kayes (48), Rajin Saleh (39) and Golam Mabud (21 not out).
Abahani v Gazi Tanks
A 111-run fourth-wicket stand between Alok Kapali (77) and Pakistani recruit Usman Salahuddin (65) helped Gazi Tank Cricketers post a competitive total of 239-5 after they were reeling at 43-3 after being put in to bat first.
Alok’s 109-ball knock saw him hit nine fours while Usman hit four fours during his innings of 102 balls.
Left-arm pacer Abul Hasan, part of the national squad in Asia Cup, picked up three wickets in his 10 overs.
Abahani found themselves in a similar situation as they were 43-3 when Mahmudullah and Farhad Hossain (51) came to their rescue.
Their 82-run partnership was broken by Alauddin Babu after which the sky-blues received no real contribution as they were all out in the last ball of the 50th over for 234.
Babu was the pick of the bowlers for Gazi as he grabbed 4-61 while Bishwanath Halder and Asif Ahmed claimed two wickets each.
