Protest held against price hike of essential drug

Our Correspondent . Khulna

Khulna citizens on Saturday at a meeting protested at the recent abnormal price hike of life saving drugs.
They also slated the drug administration for their role of ‘silent watchers’ in the wake of price hike at the programme held at Legal Practitioners office at Musalmanpara in the city.
Khulna Nagarik Samaj organised the meeting to protest against medicine price hike and selling of adulterated and date-expired drugs.
Speakers at the meeting said the price of drugs was raised excusing devaluation of taka against dollar but the price increased higher rate than that of devaluation.
They also alleged that the people’s lives were
at risk as adulterated and date-expired medicines were on sale at the medicine shops.
They urged the government to take effective steps to arrest the drug price hike and to stop selling adulterated and date-expired medicines.
Chaired by the organisation’s member secretary Firoz Ahmed, the meeting was addressed by lawyers Subrata Kundu, Abdul
Jalil, Md Masum, Babul Hawlader and Juba Union leader Pritish Mandal, among others.
